Disney World is a place where magic and innovation meet, creating unforgettable experiences for visitors of all ages. However, to continue enchanting new generations, Magic Kingdom has announced the closure of some of its most beloved attractions.
We always strive to bring the latest news from Orlando parks to our clients, and we’ve already talked here on the blog about the new attractions for 2025/2026, not just from Disney parks but from all the city’s parks. Now we’ll tell you about some Walt Disney World attractions that we’ll have to say goodbye to forever.
Starting in 2025, the park will undergo a significant transformation, closing three iconic attractions that have marked the location’s history and might be among your favorites.

Transformations at Magic Kingdom: What to expect?
Beginning in July 2025, Magic Kingdom will embark on a major renovation phase. Among the attractions that will cease operation are the Liberty Square Riverboat, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Rivers of America area.
These attractions, which for years provided moments of contemplation and history, will be replaced by new immersive experiences that promise to delight visitors.
Why are the changes happening?
These changes are part of a strategic plan to modernize the park and make room for new attractions that use cutting-edge technologies.
Disney seeks to connect its themed areas with popular franchises without losing the charm and storytelling that have always been its trademarks. According to Disney, these changes are necessary to keep the park relevant and attractive for new generations.
When it comes to Disney, we at StrollerCare fully support it because we are passionate about all the parks!

Attractions that will be closed
Liberty square riverboat
This steam-powered boat, in operation since the park’s opening, offered peaceful rides along the Rivers of America, allowing visitors to enjoy the landscapes of Liberty Square and Frontierland.
Tom Sawyer Island
Inspired by Mark Twain’s stories, this island provided a space for adventure and exploration for children and adults, away from the lines of the more popular attractions.
Rivers of America
This canal not only added a special charm to the park but was also the stage for scenic rides that harkened back to the historic past of the United States.
What’s staying at Magic Kingdom?
Despite the changes, many classic attractions will continue to delight visitors. Among them are:
Space Mountain
An exciting indoor roller coaster that takes visitors on a journey through space.
Haunted Mansion
A haunted mansion that combines humor with plenty of scares.
Pirates of the Caribbean
A boat ride full of adventure and special effects.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
A gold mine-themed roller coaster.
Peter Pan’s Flight
A magical flight over London and Neverland.
In addition to these, attractions like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Cinderella Castle, Enchanted Tiki Room, Jungle Cruise, and Dumbo the Flying Elephant will remain open, preserving the park’s essence while new experiences are introduced.

New experiences are coming
With the space freed up by the closed attractions, Magic Kingdom plans to introduce new themed areas.
One of them will be Piston Peak National Park, inspired by the Cars and Planes: Fire & Rescue films by Pixar. This new section will integrate natural elements with Disney’s engaging storytelling, offering an adventure experience in the style of the Old West.
Additionally, a new area dedicated to classic Disney villains is set to open in 2030. This space will feature attractions, restaurants, and themed shops, catering to fans’ desire for experiences centered on Disney story antagonists.
